Near the Wolfhound Shack, 1965.
A photograph of my Dad on gaurd duty at the "Wolfhound Shack", home of Kolchak V, the 27th's mascot at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. The year is 1965, before the 27th Infantry was sent to Vietnam. My Dad wears the non-tropical utilities, and jump boots. He carries an M-14 rifle, standard issue to Army Infantrymen during the early days of American involvement in Vietnam.

 Dad after he got wounded.
A photograph taken sometime after March 21, 1966. My father was wounded in the leg on that date by shrapnel from an enemy mine during a night ambush patrol.

My Dad and Jones with an 81mm mortar.
My Dad and James Jones, a fellow mortar man on March 31, 1966. They are preparing to fire an 81mm mortar. This photo was taken a couple of days after my father was wounded in the lower left leg by shrapnel.
